As the Department of Education continues the implementation of the Enhanced MATATAG Curriculum and the Three-Term School Calendar for School Year 2026–2027, teachers are also adapting to updated instructional and classroom management approaches designed to improve teaching quality and learner outcomes. One of the major instructional reforms introduced under the revised classroom delivery framework is the use of the I.L.A.W. instructional process — Intentions, Learning Experience, Assessment, and Ways Forward.
To support teachers in this transition, ready-made Daily Lesson Logs (DLLs) for Grades 1 to 9 are now being prepared and organized to align with the latest curriculum standards, quarterly competencies, and learner-centered teaching approaches promoted by DepEd. These DLLs are designed to help teachers deliver structured, engaging, and competency-based lessons while reducing the daily burden of lesson preparation.
What is the I.L.A.W. Framework?
The I.L.A.W. framework serves as a guide in organizing classroom instruction into four essential components that focus on meaningful learning and continuous learner development.
I – Intentions
This part focuses on the lesson objectives and intended learning outcomes. Teachers clearly communicate what learners are expected to understand, demonstrate, and achieve at the end of the lesson. Learning intentions are aligned with the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) and MATATAG Curriculum standards.
The ready-made DLLs contain clearly stated lesson intentions that help teachers maintain instructional focus and ensure alignment between classroom activities and expected competencies.
L – Learning Experience
The Learning Experience component emphasizes active participation, collaboration, exploration, and meaningful engagement inside the classroom. Under this framework, learners are encouraged to interact, investigate, discuss, and apply concepts through learner-centered activities.
The Grades 1–9 DLLs include interactive classroom activities, guided discussions, collaborative tasks, differentiated instruction strategies, and contextualized learning experiences that promote deeper understanding and critical thinking.
A – Assessment
Assessment remains an important part of the teaching-learning process. Under the I.L.A.W. framework, assessment is not limited to written examinations alone but also includes formative assessment activities that monitor learner progress and understanding throughout the lesson.
The DLLs contain integrated assessment tools such as short quizzes, performance tasks, reflection activities, recitations, group outputs, and competency checks that help teachers evaluate learner mastery and identify areas needing reinforcement.
W – Ways Forward
Ways Forward focuses on enrichment, remediation, intervention, and continuous improvement. This component allows teachers to provide follow-up activities, additional support, or advanced tasks depending on learner performance and classroom needs.
The ready-made DLLs provide suggested intervention activities, enrichment exercises, assignment options, and extension tasks that teachers may localize and adjust according to the needs of their learners and school context.
