DIAGNOSTIC / PRE-TEST for Key Stage 3 (Grades 7-10) SY 2026-2027

As schools prepare for the implementation of the Three-Term School Calendar for SY 2026–2027, conducting a Diagnostic / Pre-Test for Key Stage 3 learners (Grades 7–10) becomes an important part of the opening school activities.

This assessment allows teachers to evaluate learners’ prior knowledge, identify learning gaps, and determine their readiness for more advanced lessons across all subject areas.

Because Key Stage 3 covers the junior high school years, diagnostic testing plays a major role in strengthening academic foundations and improving learner performance.

What is a Diagnostic / Pre-Test?

A diagnostic test or pre-test is an assessment administered before formal instruction begins. Its goal is to measure learners’ existing knowledge and competencies acquired from previous grade levels.

Unlike graded examinations, diagnostic assessments are primarily used for:

  • Instructional planning
  • Intervention programs
  • Learner profiling
  • Skill monitoring
  • Academic readiness evaluation

As a result, teachers can develop more effective and learner-centered teaching strategies.
