The Department of Education has officially released DepEd Memorandum No. 027, s. 2026 containing the implementing guidelines for Brigada Eskwela 2026. According to the memorandum, this year’s Brigada Eskwela will be conducted from June 1 to 5, 2026, while the national kick-off activity will happen on May 29, 2026 in Cabadbaran City, CARAGA.
This year’s theme is “Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman,” highlighting the importance of unity and community participation in preparing schools for the opening of classes for School Year 2026–2027. Aside from school clean-up and repairs, DepEd is also putting strong focus on literacy development, safer learning spaces, and disaster-resilient school facilities.
Under the guidelines, schools are encouraged to conduct activities such as classroom cleaning, repainting, repair of facilities, tree planting, storytelling sessions, reading activities, and improvement of school surroundings. Communities, parents, volunteers, LGUs, NGOs, and private partners are also encouraged to participate through voluntary efforts and donations.
DepEd clarified that participation in Brigada Eskwela must remain voluntary. Schools and teachers are strictly prohibited from soliciting contributions or requiring parents and learners to give donations or pay Brigada Eskwela fees. Likewise, students and parents cannot be forced to participate in exchange for grades or incentives.
The memorandum also emphasized that schools should maintain clean and clutter-free classrooms. Oversized tarpaulins, commercial advertisements, unnecessary decorations, and unused materials inside classrooms should be removed to create a more learner-friendly environment.
Teachers who actively participate in Brigada Eskwela activities may earn Vacation Service Credits, while non-teaching personnel may receive Compensatory Time-Off (CTO) for services rendered during weekends or holidays.
DepEd also encouraged schools to sustain partnerships with stakeholders even after Brigada Eskwela week to continuously support school improvement projects and learner welfare throughout the school year.
