DBM Confirms Only 2 Regions Ready for PBB 2023 — Others Still Under Review

The release of the Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) for 2023 among Department of Education (DepEd) employees is currently pending due to the ongoing submission and validation of required documents to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

According to Benjo Basas, Chairperson of the Teachers’ Dignity Coalition (TDC), the submission of Form 1.0, one of the key requirements for PBB processing, is now underway.

Basas confirmed that two regions—Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and Region IX (Zamboanga Peninsula)—have already submitted their Form 1.0 and complied with the necessary documentary requirements. This information has been verified by both the DBM and a DepEd official.

However, the DepEd Central Office reportedly returned the submissions of seven regions for corrections or additional documentation. Meanwhile, three regions, including the National Capital Region (NCR), are currently under review, and four regions have yet to submit their required documents.

Once the documents are fully validated by the DBM Central Office, they will be forwarded to the respective DBM Regional Offices for funding and subsequent release of the PBB.

The TDC and teachers nationwide continue to closely monitor the process, hoping for the timely release of the long-awaited incentive, which serves as recognition of their performance and contribution to education delivery in 2023.
