NO FORCED TRANSFER OF MASTER TEACHERS TO KEY STAGE 1

June 30, 2025 — There are key updates from this morning’s dialogue between the ACT Teachers Party-list, ACT-Philippines, and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara held at the DepEd Central Office.

NO FORCED TRANSFER OF MASTER TEACHERS TO KEY STAGE 1

DepEd-Central clarified that there will be no forced transfer of Master Teachers to Key Stage 1 (Kindergarten to Grade 3). Any reassignment should be based on the expertise and competencies of the Master Teacher, and not done arbitrarily.

The DepEd also committed to issuing a memorandum to formally guide schools on this matter and prevent any misinterpretations or improper implementation at the division and school levels.

Teacher groups welcomed this clarification, emphasizing that while they support efforts to strengthen early grade education, it is equally important to ensure that teacher deployment decisions respect professional qualifications and avoid disrupting existing programs in higher grade levels.
