Teacher to still receive school supplies, on top of their teaching supplies allowance

June 30, 2025 — There are key updates from this morning’s dialogue between the ACT Teachers Party-list, ACT-Philippines, and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara held at the DepEd Central Office.

TEACHERS TO STILL RECEIVE SCHOOL SUPPLIES, ON TOP OF THEIR TEACHING SUPPLIES ALLOWANCE:

One of the main points clarified was that teachers will continue to receive school supplies funded under the schools’ Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE), on top of the ₱10,000 teaching supplies allowance that they will also receive.

According to the ACT Teachers Party-list, the DepEd Central Office assured them that they will issue an official memorandum to reinforce and remind schools of this policy, aiming to ensure that teachers’ classroom needs are properly supported and not shouldered out of their personal allowances. This responds to long-standing calls from teachers for clear, separate funding for school supplies.

The teachers’ groups expressed appreciation for this development but stressed that they will continue to closely monitor the prompt and proper implementation of this directive across all schools nationwide.

Discussions also continue on other concerns affecting teachers, including overtime pay, class sizes, and additional incentives.
