In a significant move to support election frontliners, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has greenlit an additional Php 1,000 across-the-board compensation for all poll workers, including teachers, who served in the midterm elections last May 12, 2025.
This latest financial boost is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive and comes as a supplement to the previously approved Php 2,000 increase in election honoraria. Together, these enhancements aim to better compensate individuals who play a vital role in the country’s democratic process.
DBM Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman confirmed the allocation of Php 758.459 million to fund this additional Php 1,000 payment. “This is separate from the Php 2,000 increase we announced last week, which is already included in the 2025 General Appropriations Act,” she clarified.
The DBM emphasized that this initiative acknowledges the dedication and critical contributions of teachers and election workers in ensuring clean, fair, and efficient elections. “They are the frontline guardians of our electoral integrity,” Secretary Pangandaman noted.
With this measure, the government reinforces its commitment to not only uphold the integrity of the electoral process but also recognize the hard work of those who make it possible.
