The Term 1 Examination Materials for Key Stage 4 learners in Grades 11 and 12 are developed as supplementary assessment resources for Senior High School teachers. They are intended to help measure the extent to which learners have acquired, understood, and applied the competencies taught during the first term. The preparation of these materials is informed by DepEd Order No. 15, s. 2026, or the Revised Guidelines on Classroom Assessment, Grading System, and Awards and Recognition for the K to 12 Basic Education Program.
At the Senior High School level, assessment should provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate not only knowledge of concepts but also their ability to interpret information, apply learning in meaningful situations, and exercise higher-level thinking appropriate to their subjects.
Scope and Coverage of the Examination
The examinations focus mainly on the learning competencies covered during Weeks 7–11 of Term 1. Selected important and critical competencies from the earlier weeks may likewise be included to determine whether learners have retained foundational concepts and can integrate them with more recent learning.
The test content is patterned after the Term 1 Budget of Work (BOW) and should correspond with the competencies and lessons actually completed in the classroom. This ensures that learners are assessed on content they have already encountered, discussed, and practiced during instruction.
60-Item Multiple-Choice Tests for Senior High School
For these DepEdClick Term 1 Examination Materials, each subject uses a 60-item multiple-choice format:
Grade 11 – 60 items per subject
Grade 12 – 60 items per subject
The questions are constructed with Bloom’s Taxonomy as a reference for varying the level of cognitive demand. In addition to recalling and understanding information, learners may be required to apply concepts, analyze data or situations, evaluate information, make reasoned judgments, and demonstrate higher-order thinking skills appropriate to Senior High School.
The 60-item format is a structure adopted specifically for these DepEdClick materials and should not be regarded as a mandatory number of test questions required by DepEd Order No. 15, s. 2026. Teachers may modify the number of items, replace questions, adjust the level of difficulty, or revise the coverage whenever necessary.
Before using the examination, teachers are strongly encouraged to review and validate each item against their accomplished competencies, actual instructional pacing, learner readiness, subject requirements, and school context.
Ultimately, these materials are designed to serve as adaptable assessment references rather than fixed examinations. The professional judgment of the teacher remains essential in ensuring that the assessment is appropriate, relevant, fair, and consistent with the learning experiences provided during the term.
