Mayor Atty. Gerald Guttrie “Geld” Aquino and Vice Mayor Marcos “Jun” Castro Jr. led the turnover ceremony at the Gabaldon Hall of Mabalacat Elementary School. The city government described the distribution as its largest single-batch turnover of digital devices to public school teachers. The event and its key details were reported by Mabalacat City News and independently covered by Pampanga-based news organizations.
Teachers Receive Full-Sized Laptops Instead of Netbooks
The distributed units were identified as Lenovo Slim 3 laptops equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5 7520U processor, 8GB of LPDDR5 memory, a 512GB NVMe solid-state drive, and integrated Radeon 610M graphics.
These specifications can support common teaching and administrative responsibilities, including preparing lesson plans and presentations, creating instructional materials, managing electronic school records, conducting online research, attending virtual training, preparing assessments, and using digital learning platforms.
Aquino said the city government considered the preferences expressed by teachers before purchasing the equipment. According to the mayor, educators indicated that they preferred laptops over smaller netbooks because full-sized devices are generally more suitable for the amount and type of work teachers perform.
The mayor emphasized that the laptops were intended not merely as additional equipment but as practical tools for educators who regularly use their own devices and resources to complete school-related responsibilities.
“We listened to the teachers’ sentiments,” Aquino said, explaining that the local government wanted to provide equipment that could respond to teachers’ actual professional needs.
