The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has issued an advisory to reassure members and pensioners who availed of its Balik Ginhawa (Loan Moratorium Through Refund) program after some received automated text messages indicating “loan arrears.”
According to GSIS, the messages were generated by its automated system and do not reflect the actual loan status of affected members. The agency said it is currently addressing the issue and advised recipients to disregard the alerts.
No Arrears, No Penalties
GSIS clarified that refunds processed under the Balik Ginhawa program will not be classified as loan arrears. It also assured members that no additional interest or penalties will be imposed in connection with the program.
To verify accurate and updated loan information, members and pensioners are encouraged to check their accounts on the GSIS Touch app.
Apology for Confusion
The agency apologized for any inconvenience or confusion caused by the erroneous notifications, emphasizing its commitment to resolving the system issue promptly.
The Balik Ginhawa initiative was introduced to provide financial relief to GSIS members by offering a loan moratorium paired with refunds, particularly benefiting those managing existing loan obligations.
With the clarification, GSIS aims to ease concerns and ensure members that their accounts remain in good standing under the program.
