Mandatory 30-Day Rest Period
According to the order, the first 30 days, from April 1 to May 1, 2026, will be mandatory and uninterrupted. During this period, teachers are not required to report for any school-related duties, allowing them to fully disconnect and enjoy well-deserved personal time.
DepEd emphasized that this uninterrupted break is essential in supporting teachers’ mental health, recovery, and overall work-life balance after a demanding academic year.
Optional Participation with Service Credits
The next 30 days of the vacation period will provide teachers with continued flexibility. While they may still enjoy their break, participation in school-related activities will be strictly voluntary.
Teachers who choose to take part in activities such as trainings, school programs, or other official engagements during this period shall be granted corresponding service credits. This ensures that those who opt to remain professionally active are properly recognized and compensated for their time.
Supporting Teacher Welfare
The 60-day vacation framework reflects DepEd’s ongoing commitment to teacher welfare and sustainable workload management. By clearly distinguishing between mandatory rest and optional involvement—with incentives for participation—the policy seeks to prevent burnout while still offering opportunities for professional engagement.
