Walang Pasok: Schools, LGUs Suspend Classes for February 25, 2026 (EDSA 40)

Several schools and local government units (LGUs) across the country have announced the suspension of classes on February 25, 2026, to mark the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution—an event widely regarded as a turning point in Philippine history.

Although Malacañang has designated February 25 as a special working day, a number of academic institutions have chosen to halt classes and, in some cases, close campuses altogether. School administrators said the move is meant to allow students, faculty, and staff to participate in commemorative activities, remembrance ceremonies, and public gatherings related to the anniversary.

The 1986 People Power Revolution brought millions of Filipinos to Epifanio de los Santos Avenue in a wave of largely peaceful demonstrations that led to the ouster of President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., the father of incumbent President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. The four-day uprising is widely credited with ending authoritarian rule, restoring democratic institutions, and ushering Corazon Aquino—widow of slain opposition leader Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.—into the presidency.
