Class Suspensions for July 22, 2025 Due to Persistent Rains and Flooding

Several local government units in Luzon have declared the suspension of classes for Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in all levels of both public and private schools, as persistent rains brought by the southwest monsoon (habagat) continue to cause flooding and pose risks to student safety.

The following areas have officially suspended classes:
  • Lipa City, Batangas (All levels, both public and private)
  • City of Malolos, Bulacan (All levels, public & private)
  • Alfonso, Cavite - All levels, Public & Private (Modular/Blended Learning)
  • Bailen, Cavite - All levels, Public & Private
  • Masantol, Pampanga – All levels, public and private
  • This is a running list. Refresh to be updated.
Local authorities cite the widespread flooding, slippery roads, and potential landslides as reasons for the preventive suspension of face-to-face classes.

Automatic Class Suspension Guidelines

The Department of Education (DepEd), through DepEd Order No. 022, series of 2024, reminds schools and stakeholders of the revised protocols on class suspensions during natural calamities.

Key provisions include:

Signal No. 1: Automatic suspension of preschool classes.
Signal No. 2: Automatic suspension from preschool to senior high school.
Signal No. 3 or higher: Automatic suspension in all levels, including tertiary education.

However, in the absence of a tropical cyclone signal, LGUs have the discretion to declare suspensions based on localized assessments, such as flooding, strong rains, or other hazards.

Public Advisory

DepEd urges parents, students, and school personnel to stay informed through official announcements from LGUs, DepEd regional offices, and verified government channels. In flood-prone areas, communities are advised to prepare for possible evacuations and ensure children’s safety at home.
