Class Suspensions for the Month of April 2024 (Due to Hot Weather)


According to PAGASA, heat index is measured on the actual temperature that a person feels with the air temperature and humidity. Heat index from 33 to 41 degrees Celsius is already classified as "Extreme Caution" while 42 degrees Celsius and above is classified as "Danger" and "Extreme Danger".


Under the "Danger" level, there is a possibility of heat cramps and exhaustion with a threat of heat stroke. While in "Extreme Danger" level (52°C and up)  heat cramps and exhaustion and continuing activity could lead to heat stroke.

In consideration of the health of students and teachers in the country who are experiencing extremely hot weather, here are the municipalities and provinces that declared the suspension of face-to-face classes (half day and whole day) for the month of April 2024:


  • Bulacan Province (All levels public and private from April 11-13)
  • Municipality of Manaoag, Pangasinan (All levels public and private from April 11-12)
  • Solano, Nueva Vizcaya (Preschool to high school public and private, April 11)
  • Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (Preschool to high school public and private, April 11)
  • Daraga, Albay (All levels, public and private until April 12)
  • Ilo-ilo City (All levels public schools April 11)
  • Tabaco City, Albay (All levels of public and private schools April 11 until lifted)
  • Naga City, Cebu (public schools only until April 14)
  • Banga, South Cotabato (afternoon classes suspended in public and private schools until April 15)
  • Polomolok, South Cotabato: Elementary to Senior HS (Until April15, Afternoon Classes)
  • Talisay, Cebu (public schools only until April 14)
  • Cebu Province (All Levels until Further Notice)
  • Liloan, Cebu (public schools only until April 12)
  • Tupi, South Cotabato: Elementary to Senior HS (Until April 12, Afternoon Classes)
  • Tantangan, South Cotabato: Elementary to Senior HS (Until April 15, Afternoon Classes)
  • Tboli, South Cotabato: All Levels Public and Private (Until April 12, 2024)
  • Norala, South Cotabato (public and private schools, every Tuesday and Thursday until April 12)
  • Saranggani Province: All Levels Public and Private (Until April 19, 2024)
  • Lapu-Lapu City: Primary to High School (Until April 12, 2024)
  • Sultan Kudarat: All Levels (Until April 15, 2024)
  • Manila City (afternoon classes suspended in public schools from April 11 until May 28)
