Over 1 Million DepEd Personnel to Benefit from Approved 2024 PBB
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced on Monday, October 5, the approval of the Executive Order No. 61 Technical Working Group (EO 61 TWG) assessment for the grant of the 2024 PBB to qualified DepEd employees.
The development comes as teachers and education personnel across the country mark World Teachers’ Day, giving added significance to the recognition of their work, dedication, and continued service to Filipino learners.
The FY 2024 PBB was earlier authorized by the Office of the President upon the recommendation of the EO No. 61 Technical Working Group. The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) issued Resolution No. 2026-1 and Memorandum Circular No. 2026-1 in July, setting the guidelines and requirements for the grant of the bonus to qualified government agencies and personnel.
Under the guidelines, the PBB remains subject to agency and individual eligibility requirements, including performance results, financial stewardship, operational efficiency, and compliance with government accountability standards.
The government had also previously confirmed that funding for the FY 2024 PBB was already provided under the Fiscal Year 2026 General Appropriations Act, with authorities working to expedite its processing and release. Malacañang said in July that qualified government employees could receive the bonus within 2026, potentially earlier than in previous PBB cycles.
For DepEd, the approval is expected to benefit qualified personnel across the country, including teachers, teaching-related employees, school officials, and non-teaching staff.
The President emphasized the importance of accelerating the necessary processes for the release of the incentive, with concerned government agencies expected to coordinate closely to facilitate its distribution to qualified personnel.
The announcement also comes amid the administration’s continuing recognition of public school teachers and education workers. In recent engagements with educators, President Marcos has highlighted government initiatives aimed at improving career progression, reducing teachers’ administrative workload, and strengthening support for education personnel.
For more than a million DepEd personnel, the approval of the 2024 PBB serves as another form of recognition for their contribution to public education and their continued service to millions of Filipino learners.
Further guidelines and announcements regarding the processing, validation, and actual release of the PBB are expected to be issued or disseminated by the concerned government agencies.
