₱10,000 Teaching Allowance for Public School Teachers in SY 2026–2027: Eligibility and Expected Release Date

Public school teachers nationwide are expected to receive the full ₱10,000 Teaching Allowance for School Year 2026–2027 under Republic Act No. 11997 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR). The law provides financial support to teachers for classroom and instructional expenses that are often personally funded by educators throughout the school year.

The teaching allowance covers expenses related to teaching supplies, classroom materials, printing, communication, internet connectivity, and other instructional needs under various learning delivery modalities. The benefit is also non-taxable, allowing qualified personnel to receive the full amount without deductions.

Who Are Eligible for the ₱10,000 Teaching Allowance?

Under the IRR of RA 11997, the following personnel under the Department of Education are eligible for the teaching allowance:
  • Public school teachers engaged in actual classroom teaching
  • Alternative Learning System (ALS) teachers and mobile teachers
  • Guidance counselors
  • School librarians
  • Industrial arts or vocational instructors
  • Supervisory and administrative personnel performing teaching-related functions
  • District ALS Coordinators

These personnel must be involved in the delivery of public basic education services to qualify for the annual allowance.

Expected Schedule of Payment for SY 2026–2027

For School Year 2026–2027, classes under the Three-Term School Calendar officially open on June 8, 2026. Based on the IRR of RA 11997, the teaching allowance shall generally be released not earlier than the opening of classes, subject to the availability of funds and processing by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and DepEd field offices.

Considering the June 8 class opening and the usual processing timeline observed in previous years, the expected release of the ₱10,000 Teaching Allowance may occur on Mid-June 2026 onwards, depending on the speed of fund downloading and payroll processing in individual Schools Division Offices (SDOs) and Regional Offices.

Some divisions may release the allowance earlier once funds are available, while others may experience slight delays due to administrative procedures and validation of eligible personnel.

Importance of the Teaching Allowance

The increase of the annual teaching allowance from ₱5,000 to ₱10,000 reflects the government’s recognition of the increasing expenses teachers shoulder in delivering quality education. Teachers regularly spend for classroom decorations, learner materials, printing of worksheets, internet expenses, and other teaching-related requirements.

With the continued implementation of curriculum reforms and evolving classroom needs, the expanded allowance provides additional support to educators in preparing organized, effective, and learner-centered instruction for Filipino learners.
