Senator Imee Marcos called on SSS, GSIS, Pag-IBIG, and PhilHealth to temporarily suspend salary deductions and allow a loan payment moratorium to help Filipinos cope with rising fuel and commodity prices.
She said the continuing increase in gasoline and crude oil prices has made daily living more difficult, especially for workers and families already struggling with basic expenses. Marcos urged the agencies to let employees receive their full salaries for at least
a month or longer while prices remain high.
The senator noted that workers, farmers, fisherfolk, and small business owners are among the most affected by the rising cost of transportation and goods. She added that similar relief measures were used during the Covid-19 pandemic and past natural disasters to ease financial pressure on families.
