Dozens of Schools and LGUs Set Class Suspensions for EDSA at 40


At least 27 local government units (LGUs) across the country have declared a localized holiday or ordered class suspensions on February 25, 2026, in observance of the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

This is despite Malacañang’s designation of the date as a special working day. Several LGUs and schools said the move aims to give students, teachers, and school staff the opportunity to take part in commemorative and remembrance activities marking the historic uprising.

The declarations cover multiple areas, including 12 LGUs in Albay, eight in Laguna, and others in Negros Occidental, Rizal, Romblon, and Tarlac, showing broad local support for the observance of the milestone anniversary.

As of this writing, the following LGUs and schools have announced class suspensions or special local holiday observances on February 25:
