What is the Medical Allowance?
The Medical Allowance is a benefit given to DepEd personnel to help cover health-related needs. For 2026, DepEd wants this allowance to be processed faster and more efficiently, so employees can use it when they need it most.
Faster and Simpler Processing
Under the new instructions:
- All field offices (FOs) across different levels of DepEd are authorized to process the medical allowance only through payroll disbursement.
- Employees can choose one of two options for how they want to receive the allowance (as indicated in the official guidelines).
- The main goal is to release the allowance before the end of the 1st Quarter of FY 2026, as long as funds are available.
- If needed, Regional Offices (ROs) and Schools Division Offices (SDOs) may temporarily use available Personnel Services (PS) funds to avoid delays.
In short, DepEd is simplifying the process so the money can reach employees faster and more reliably.
Who is Eligible?
You are eligible for the Medical Allowance if:
- You are already in service and will complete at least six (6) months of total service within FY 2026, or
- You are newly hired and will become eligible after completing six (6) months of service.
What Do Employees Need to Do?
All eligible personnel must:
- Submit Annex A (Medical Allowance Registration Form)
- Indicate their chosen mode of availing the medical allowance
These forms will be used as the basis for payroll processing, so submitting them correctly and on time is very important.
Why This Matters
This new instruction is meant to:
- Speed up the release of the medical allowance
- Reduce delays and paperwork
- Make sure employees receive their benefits early in 2026
- Ensure better support for the health and well-being of DepEd personnel
