City Government to Grant ₱6,000 Quarterly Allowance to Teachers and Non-Teaching Staff in Puerto Princesa Starting 2026
PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — Public school teachers and non-teaching personnel in Puerto Princesa City will soon receive additional financial support as the City Government announced the grant of a ₱6,000 quarterly allowance, beginning in 2026.
The initiative, led by Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron, was warmly welcomed by representatives from public elementary and secondary schools across the city. Under the program, teachers and non-teaching staff holding plantilla positions will receive a ₱2,000 monthly allowance, to be released every quarter for a total of ₱6,000 per release.
Mayor Bayron said the allowance is a form of recognition for the dedication, sacrifices, and long-standing service of educators and school personnel in shaping the youth and serving the people of Puerto Princesa.
“Gusto naming matanggap niyo ‘yan (allowance) ng mabilisan, kasi ‘yan ay pagkilala sa serbisyo na ibinibigay ninyo, ever since, sa mga kabataan at mamamayan ng Puerto Princesa. Kinikilala namin ‘yung mga sakripisyo ninyo. Kinikilala namin ‘yung mahabang panahon na nandidiyan kayo,” Mayor Bayron said during a meeting held on January 15, 2026, attended by school heads and principals from public elementary and secondary schools in the city.
The education sector expressed deep appreciation for the city government’s initiative, describing the announcement as an unexpected but welcome development.
Palawan National School Principal Jabel Anthony L. Nuñala shared that the allowance came as a pleasant surprise to the Department of Education community.
“Nabigla ang DepEd family, ang mga teachers, gayundin kaming mga school heads sa pasorpresang handog ng ating Pamahalaang Panlungsod sa pangunguna ni Mayor Bayron doon sa inannounce niya na allowance sa mga naka-plantilla sa mga paaralan,” Nuñala said.
Mayor Bayron emphasized that the program reflects the city government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector, noting that supporting educators is a critical investment in improving the quality of education in Puerto Princesa City.
