Senator Bam Aquino has filed Senate Bill No. 127, known as the “Angat Sweldo para sa Guro Act,” aiming to boost the monthly salaries of public school teachers and qualified non-teaching personnel by ₱10,000.
The proposed increase will be implemented in three phases: an initial ₱4,000, followed by two tranches of ₱3,000 each. The measure seeks to ease the financial burden on educators amid inflation, rising living expenses, and the growing demands of the teaching profession.
Aquino emphasized that teachers—being at the frontline of basic education—deserve fair compensation and recognition for their critical role in nation-building.
The bill covers educators in the public basic education system, excluding those from the private sector. It is currently pending review in Senate committees.
If passed into law, this measure would provide one of the most significant salary upgrades for public school personnel in recent years.
