March 11, 2024, Holiday in Select Area

The Muslim holy month of Ramadan will begin on Monday, March 11, 2024 in the Philippines. Many are wondering whether this day will be declared as a nationwide special non-working holiday or not.

The Official Gazette of the Philippines Facebook page clarified this concern posting that March 11, 2024 is not a nationwide holiday and that the document circulating the social media telling otherwise is fake and tampered with.

"The circulating document labeled “Proclamation No. 729,” which purportedly declares Monday, March 11, 2024, as a nationwide regular holiday in celebration of Eid’l Fitr, is spurious."

"It is a tampered version of Proclamation No. 729, s. 2019, issued by then Executive Secretary Medialdea during the previous administration."

However, the Mindanao State University released a memorandum declaring March 11, 2024 as a Special Non-Working Holiday in Observance of the Commencement of the Holy Month of Ramadhan in the entire Mindanao State University System.
