Good news on the P10,000 teaching allowance for teachers (read here)

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Philippines pressed Pres. Marcos Jr. to sign into law the reconciled bill seeking to grant public school teachers P10,000 teaching allowance starting School Year (SY) 2025-2026, which was ratified by both legislative chambers this week.

“It is high time for the President to sign into law the legislation for doubling the teaching allowance granted to teachers amidst the current economic and learning crises. If enacted, this would be a relief for teachers especially since hopes for substantial salary increase is yet to be seen on the horizon. This measure is long overdue, but we need it more than ever—especially since our teachers have been digging into their own pockets for classroom needs such as teaching and learning materials,” raised Quetua.

ACT has consistently campaigned and lobbied for increased teaching supplies allowance for teachers. ACT Teachers Party-list spearheaded the measure in the House of Representatives which was passed in December of last year with the approved provision of P7,500 for SY 2024-2025 and P10,000 for SY 2025-2026 onwards. Nevertheless, the legislation is a product of teachers’ persistent push and lobbying for improved benefits led by ACT and ACT Teachers Party-list.
