The Department of Education is set to release the official guidelines for School Year 2021-2022 calendar soon.

This is stated in the official statement of DepEd clarifying that the proposal to start the said school year on August 23 is only one of the options since the law mandates to open the school year not later than the last day of August unless the President intervenes. Moreover, the department will be proposing various options for the President to consider.

It further emphasized that the President has the official decision on the opening of the school year, in accordance with Republic Act 11480.
