DepEd has no budget for the treatment of teachers with COVID-19

The Department of Education has clarified that there is no budget allocation for the treatment of teachers who are diagnosed with COVID-19.

Several groups have been asking DepEd for the assistance and concrete plan for those teachers who have been infected by this COVID-19 in the exigency of service.

DepEd Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla clarified addressed this matter by saying, "COVID medication and treatment funding budgets are not present or appropriated in the existing budget of DepEd. And I think it is true for all national government agencies."

However, Sevilla stressed that while DepEd has no legal allocation for their treatment, they can still receive financial assistance from "personal contributions and collective efforts of the DepEd family."
