DepEd Teachers Set to Receive 2023 Performance Bonus by Year-End

Teachers under the Department of Education (DepEd) can expect their long-awaited 2023 performance-based bonus (PBB) to be released before the close of 2025, following confirmation from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

The assurance was given during deliberations in the House of Representatives on DBM’s proposed 2026 budget.

House Inquiry on Bonus Timeline

ACT Teachers Partylist Representative Antonio Tinio pressed DBM officials on when the Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) would be made available.
“Does this mean the SARO will be released before the year ends?” Tinio asked during the session.

Nueva Ecija 1st District Representative Mikaela Angela Suansing responded on DBM’s behalf:
“Yes, Mr. Speaker. DBM confirms that the SARO will be released by the end of the year.”

Eligibility Assessment Underway

Suansing explained that a technical working group (TWG) is finalizing a resolution that will define which DepEd personnel qualify for the incentive. Once the resolution is completed, the group will conduct a full eligibility assessment.

DepEd will then have one month to submit the list of qualified teachers. After receiving the list, DBM will issue the SARO along with the corresponding Cash Advances (CA) to facilitate the payouts.
